Merger Integration PMO Set Up & Operations for Fortune 500 Company

Situation:

  • An enterprise IT PMO needed to be established to provide guidance and oversight to IT projects in the newly merged organization

Engagement:

  • Conducted current state assessment of people, tools, and processes for the existing business offices of the legacy organizations
  • Created stakeholder mapping and documented stakeholder engagement and communications plan; developed user documentation for training
  • Held future state visioning workshops and developed charter for the IT PMO
  • Developed future state requirements for the IT PMO, including role definitions, tool requirements, and process flows
  • Developed operational models and defined scope of work in the areas of strategy and multi-year planning, cross-functional program management and release management

Results:

  • Brought clarity to the organizational structure and objectives for the IT PMO as a service organization versus functions performed by the business office
  • Aligned objectives of the IT PMO to the overall IT Strategic Plan of the organization
  • Defined IT PMO processes and tools as the foundation of PM training programs going forward
